We continue to be studious game developers, exploring the viability and fun of emerging technologies through our game TontachiAR. Itβs imperative that we are data driven, getting key performance indicators (KPIs) and info on our players at large.
Itβs been over a month now since we launched A superr Early Access version of Tontachi for iOS & Android to the public. Hereβs a light breakdown of how itβs been performing!
The Good
Game Statsπ:
Over 850 Installs Across iOS & Android!
Daily Active Users currently are around 25 players; Max on one day was 386!
And for our Blockchain Enthusiasts out there..
Over 350 Unique Wallet Sign-Ins.
92% of Players could connect a Metamask Wallet, doing so without hiccups
Over 2000 Tontachi Races done by these Unique Wallets and thus Players
People are buying and using those Discovery Keysπ! Weβre so happy people believe in our project which is still so early on.
Through Analytics and Funnels, weβre able to see that players are finishing our tutorial, understanding the core technologies of AR and/or blockchain, and finding the game itself intriguing.
Not bad. Not bad. Of course, we need to 100x these number so thereβs much weβve been discussing internally regarding the game as a whole.

The Bad
Our Retention could be better. Which makes sense given that this Early Access was more a confirmation that our Technologies could play nicely together and players can interact with them.
It's clear to us that our focus now is on the core game loop to enhance player satisfaction and therefore retention.
The Real (but not so Ugly)
Performance Issues. In doing deep dives we've found that advanced AR tech simply won't work for every device out there, and it's incredibly difficult to optimize for individual compatibility. We confirmed with Niantic (PokemonGO creators) that this is a reality when doing cutting edge stuff..
So,
We're updating the game to have the AR tech work better on phones where it works current.
We're adding more non-AR gameplay for the phones where AR doesn't work.
Ideally the core gameloop supports all devices, but we're working to ensure that the metagame certainly does.
